"When I started a new role as a senior leader of our IT support team, my first meeting was in the office of our general counsel to discuss a poorly designed job ladder that had been implemented for the team. Our counsel and HR were concerned that the implementation was opening our institution to risk of lawsuit or loss of staff. So we needed to fix things and fix them correctly.
